Description of the internship The task is to make an ecological foot printing analysis of NIHA office life and activities. The intern will be expected to make a cartography of the current carbon, energy and water footprints of NIHA office & NIHA activities, and prepare a report on how to reduce overall ecological and economical impact. All ideas in the report will be taken into account and implemented as long as they provide economical gain in the mid-term future (3-5 years). The intern will also be expected to prepare a policy paper on "Green NIHA" and raise awareness about it in order to improve the capacity of the NIHA staff and prepare them for potential measures within this framework.

An intelligent problem solver is needed to assist on this project, preferably someone who has an understanding and/or experience of; carbon footprinting, practical energy efficiency solutions, corporate sustainability, reporting and rating standards for green buildings, efficiency in general appliance systems (heating, water, lightning etc…)

The program in Electrical and Electronics Engineering is designed with the purpose of preparing students both for a career in Electrical &Electronics Engineering profession and for further studies in applied and theoretical research. Undergraduate students in the department take a common core of two subjects that serves as their introduction to electrical and electronic engineering. They then systematically build up broad foundations and depth in selected intellectual theme areas that match their individual interests. This is done through a small set of foundation subjects, on top of which students select a set of header subjects that build on the foundations, and lay further foundation for exploration in a selected set of intellectual themes. Laboratory subjects, independent projects, and research opportunities provide engagement with principles and techniques of analysis, design, and experimentation in a variety of fields. The EEE department pursues a wide range of research topics. Description of the organization The Human Rights Agenda Association (HRAA) was established in 2003 in İzmir with the participation of human rights defenders from different regions of Turkey in order to have activities in human rights field at national and international level.

The HRAA accepts that human rights as a value is above all political ideologies and worldviews, and believes that rights can only be improved by developing an approach to get into the very sources of issues and by using appropriate tactics and strategies to translate concrete proposal into real life. The HRAA categorically denounces all forms of violence, and while acknowledging that the state is the main agent of human rights violations, it equally objects the human rights violations committed by the armed dissident groups.

The aim of the association it to strenghten human rights acitvism both in the Turkey and other countries by many activities such as: preaparing training programmes, exchanging opinions and experiences with representatives of other organisations during the meetings and seminars and drafting thematic reports specifying ways to solve problems reated to human rights issues, not only by submitting these reports to the attention of international bodies to which Turkey is a party to, but also to submit them to Turkish governments in order to convince them to make necessary changes and amendments.

Description of the internship -The trainee is entitled to review HRAA's website in order to meet the point of view of HRAA towards several fields of human rights (www.rightsagenda.org).
-The trainee is expected to work in close cooperation with the office team.
-It is strongly recommended that the trainee shall focus on a specific theme of human rights and write a scientific article (obeying scientific rules is a must, approx. 10 – 15 pages) on a related field of human rights under supervision and guidance of a member of HRAA Board. After that, trainee shall make a presentation of the article to all members and guests of HRAA. -HRAA offers a publishment of the article according to its strength.
-Office hours of HRAA are 09.00-18.00 with a lunchbreak, from Monday to Friday. Trainee is entitled to carry on the office hours, which includes some administrative responsibilities.
-HRAA will assign to trainee tasks and responsibilities to match his/her knowledge, skills, competencies and training objectives and ensure that appropriate equipment and support is available.
-HRAA will appoint a mentor to advise trainee, help his/her them with their integration in the host environment and monitor their training progress;
-HRAA will provide practical support if required, check appropriate insurance cover and facilitate understanding of the culture of the host country. Unfortunately, HRAA does not offer a salary or any kinds of stipend.
The trainee undertakes to comply with all arrangements negotiated for his/her placement and to do his/her best to make the placement a success; abide by the rules and regulations of the host organisation, its normal working hours, code of conduct and rules of confidentiality.

As a rule, a prison or a detention house is founded in any place where there is a court.
In view of the hierarchical structure, penal enforcement institutions are under the authority of Ministry of Justice, General Directorate of Prisons
The Directorate carries out leave, transfer, selection for open prisons, transport to hearings or hospitals, education and vocational training, probation and after release care of prisoners; supervision, order and security, construction, maintenance, budget and allocation of prisons; and appointment, transfer, permission, appraisal, promotion and disciplinary process of the prison staff appointed by the Ministry.
General Directorate of Prisons is responsible for the management and supervision of 347 closed penal institutions, 27 open penal institutions. These prisons are situated in different cities of Turkey. Additionally, for the execution of alternative punitive measures, 134 Probation and Help Centers were established. In these centers prevention related to re-offending and rehabilitation facilities are being held. Department Responsible for the Probation and Help services under the Administration of Prisons and Detention Houses is responsible for control of these centers.
Research and Development Center attached to Headship of External Affairs is established in order to improve the Turkish penal enforcement system.

Description of the internship The internship programme is not fixed. The intern will be working for the project manager, assisting in writing proposals or conducting research.
For the other position the main tasks are assistance in office management, preparing and organizing events and smaller tasks. The programme can differ by every project. Specific tasks will have to be discussed between the organisation and the intern.
