December-March
Get informed about the application procedures, deadlines and how to start preparing for your applications. Most universities have started to accept applications through Studielink. This is not a placement agency but  a government run central application system. Some universities may require additional applications directly handled by their own admissions office. Most of these direct applications will be similar to the Studielink system, which means you will have to apply for an account and start uploading the requested documents online. Other universities might ask you to fill out an application form. The most important documents you will need for your application will be:

  • Copy of your passport and photo
  • Diploma
  • Transcript
  • Academic reference letters
  • Motivation letter
  • Curriculum Vitae/ Resume
  • TOEFL or IELTS score
Some universities might ask for additional documents, always read the information on your programmes application and admission pages carefully.
March-May Complete all your applications and be sure to send hardcopies of your documents if asked for. Finish your applications on time, missing the deadline will mean that your application will not be processed, Dutch universities are extremely strict in this.
May-June Wait for the results of your applications. Do not send e-mails inquiring about your applications before the end of June.
June Contact universities who have not yet informed you of their decision.
June-July If you are accepted at more than one university, accept the offer at your preferred institution and decline the others. Once you accept the offer your universities admissions officer will contact you for enrolling you to the programme, applying for your visa and the arrangement of housing. Make sure these issues are handeled before the end of July otherwise you might not be able to go to the Netherlands in time.
