Some of them prefer to organize an event on their own, others organise events together with partner organisations or plan to give logistic support to the plans of others. NIHA will be active in all the above-mentioned approaches.

Netherlands Institute for Higher Education (NIHA) and the Netherlands Education Association (HED) kindly invites you to a one-day training on International Negotiations by Prof. Dr. Paul Meerts. The training by Dr. Meerts will take place at NIHA Building located at Koza Sokak, No:111, GOP, Ankara at 09:00 and will end at 17:00.

About the Training

The International Negotiations training by Dr. Meerts is an annual event of NIHA and aims to benefit students, recent graduates and young professionals, who are working on internationally intense environments, as well as the young diplomats and professionals of both the governmental institutions and the non-governmental organizations. The training specifically focuses on international negotiations as a method for peaceful dispute settlement between states and/or other organizations. It addresses different methods of negotiation through determining and examining types of conflict situations and handling modes.

About Prof. Dr. Paul Meerts

Prof. Dr. Paul Meerts, who is a Senior Research Associate of the Clingendael Institute – Netherlands, is also a visiting professor in International Negotiation Analysis at the College of Europe (Bruges). In the past he was Head of Training and Education (1983-1989), Deputy Director (1990-2006) and Special Advisor to the Director of Clingendael (2006-2011). His current expertise is the international negotiations processes and Prof. Dr. Meerts is currently training diplomats, civil servants and military officers in over ninety countries worldwide.

Mr. Unal Akyuz who is the head of the Projects Coordination Center of the Ministry of National Education has visited Netherlands between December 7 – 9, 2011 as a guest of the Ministry of Economic Relations, Agriculture and Innovation of the Netherlands. During this visit, Mr. Akyuz attended a seminar on “Participation to the EU Education Projects in Turkey & Morocco” and made a presentation about the ongoing and planned EU projects. Within the sessions of this seminar Mr. Akyüz, found a chance to meet with many Dutch institutions, companies and corporations and visited the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science as well as Nuffic, Colo, Kenwerk and MBO Road which are operating in the field of vocational and higher education.

The Dutch  Transfer Magazine has published a special issue on Turkey in December 2011. As Turkey, which is bridging Europe and Asia, has been announced as a Focusland in 2012; the magazine will be showing special interest on the higher education and cooperation of that country.
