Green Sector

NIHA initiated a diverse list of activities in agriculture in 2008, varying from regional projects such as WOMAN-AGRI-POWER, a project aimed at the education and employment of women in the organic agriculture sector in Kirazlı in the province of Aydın, to the support of educational cooperation involvement, mainly including educational institutions such as WUR (Wageningen University and Research Centre), CAH-Dronten, Van Hall-Larenstein and STOAS. The Turkish involvement was mostly from the agricultural faculties of Ankara University, Ege University, Harran University in Urfa and Niğde University. Through several trade-missions and G2G-projects contacts were made with Dutch corporations and underlying structures.

NIHA has especially been able to create a network in horticulture (also in combination with geothermal energy).

Due to the fact that agricultural education is incorporated in the Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs and not the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science, NIHA’s efforts in this field have to be minimally cost effective.
