EU Awareness and Youth Networks
In the context of Turkey’s accession negotiations to the EU, many programmes enhancing civil society cooperation have flourished in Turkey for the past 3 years. The European Commission is massively supporting communication campaigns about the EU – its policies, legal and institutional system, values and History – in order to prepare the integration of Turkey into the EU, and therefore its participation to EU decision-making process and structural funds.
Besides supporting bilateral agreements between Turkish and Dutch universities to establish dual degree in the field of European studies or policies, NIHA also wants to contribute to raising awareness among Turkish students and researchers about EU – by launching its Thursdays’ seminars on European Union and Turkey every two months, hosting workshops or lectures related to EU, and initiating and participating as partner or associate to EU-granted projects in Turkey.
To bridge together the European Youth, NIHA is also supporting projects in the frame of the Youth in Action Programme of the European Union, and various activities of the Netherlands Alumni Association of Turkey (NAATR). We are also going to apply to the Turkish National Agency (for EU Education and Youth Programmes) for an accreditation to become an EVS (European Volunteer Service) hosting and sending organization.
