Priority Areas

Why priority areas?

NIHA has been tasked with developing activities on the basis of demand from in particular the Netherlands, on all fields covered by the Dutch higher education, research and vocational education establishments. However, as a certain classification of activities is useful and improves efficiency, priority areas have been developed.

Amongst others, the following considerations play a role in the choice of priority areas:

  • The number of priority areas must remain limited (maximum about 10)
  • The framework must be flexible, without leading to frequent changes
  • Activities in the different priority areas should be complementary and reinforce one an other where possible
  • Knowledge and skills present in the organisation should be optimally utilised
  • NIHA priorities should connect as well as possible with the existing (economic, and other) relations between the Netherlands and Turkey
  • Demand and supply in the social and educational fields should be matched as well as possible
  • The importance of a priority area should stand in proportion to the pace at which projects can be developed
  • Win-win situation between the Netherlands and Turkey and NIHA and partners should be created where possible
  • The priority area should contribute to the enlargement of NIHA’s network
  • The priority area should contribute to the enhanced visibility and recognisability of NIHA
